Why The Entire Cast Of The Jersey Shore Is At Risk For Skin Cancer
The entire cast of the Jersey Shore is as risk for skin cancer. If you have ever seen any members of the cast then you probably knew this already. They are all quite tan and proud of it, as they seem to be proud of everything they do whether they should be or not. But the issue at hand is skin cancer and this is why they are at risk.
Why Are They At Risk?
The entire cast of the Jersey Shore is at risk for skin cancer because they tan. That's all it takes. Anyone who tans either out in real sunlight or in tanning beds or booths is at risk for cancer. It is not that the Jersey Shore cast is doing anything that different than many other people to be at risk for skin cancer. They are just being singled out because they are relentless tanners, are at high risk for skin cancer, and are proud of it.
Perhaps this young cast is unaware that tanning at any age is harmful and tanning at a young age can increase a person's risk for cancer by 75%. Perhaps they do not realize that tanning is not an indication of a healthy glow but rather an indication that the skin has been damaged.
The Use Of Tanning Beds And Booths
The use of tanning beds and booths isn't better than tanning in direct sunlight. It's worse. It allows for the skin to receive a more concentrated dose of the harmful UV rays that damage the skin and that can be a direct cause of skin cancer.
In fact, indoor tanning raises the chances that anyone, including the cast of the Jersey Shore, will experience a malignant melanoma by 75%. This is not to say that tanning out in the sunlight is better or harmless. It's still bad. It's just slightly less bad than tanning beds and booths but if you realize how bad these indoor tanning devices are then you would realize that isn't saying much.
Personal Tanning Beds
To top it all off, some of the members of the Jersey Shore cast even have their own personal tanning beds. This makes it even easier to regularly expose your skin to the harmful UV rays and to invite the health condition known as cancer into your life sooner or later. It doesn't matter where you tan. The act of tanning is the problem.
A Note About Looking Good
People tan to look good but tanning leads to premature aging. It causes wrinkles, age spots, and sagging of the skin. If you want to look good and keep looking good then tanning is not the way to go.
Tanning is awful. It is a socially accepted practice but it's literally the act of damaging your body and your health in an effort to look good. While many, including the cast of the Jersey Shore cast, may prefer to ignore the long term repercussions in order to get the short term gains, many who tan will come to regret their decision in time.
