Vacation Recap

Sorry for not posting our our vacation details here as soon as possible. I just don't have much time left. I mean, I've been so busy taking care of the baby and doing house chores and all that. This entry is kinda long so you better get some coffee.....just kidding!

Thursday, July 12, 2007 - Left the house (Bothell, WA)

We left the house at around 9 o'clock in the morning. We stopped by at the nearest store to grab something to eat. Alam nyo naman pag may baby. Kailangan may pagkain para di magutom hehe. I'm so glad we only spent less than 1 minute at the border. Walang katao-tao lol. It was unbelievable! Then, we headed to Kamloops, BC and spent the night here. I'm so glad we had wireless internet connection in our hotel room.

Friday, July 13, 2007 - Leaving Kamloops, BC

We checked out very early in the morning, mga 7 o'clock. Then, went to a seafoods restaurant to eat. We left the place at around 8:30 in the morning. Dear hubby and I decided to drive all the way to Calgary. Gosh, it was a very long and tiring day. The road was very windy. It took us almost 8 hours to get to Calgary. We arrived in Calgary at around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Then I called my cousins and they were so happy to hear that we're already in Calgary. We're supposed to spent the night in Calgary but we decided to drive all the way to Edmonton that same day because Edmonton wasn't that far from Calgary. It's only 3 hours away from Calgary.

We went to the park and let Lilly play there for a while. At 5:30 in the afternoon, we left the park and headed to Edmonton. We arrived in Edmonton past 8 o'clock in the evening. Went to Alberta Place hotel but it's all fully booked. Then, we called 5 other hotels and got the same respond. Finally, we were able to get a room in Super 8. But it was 8 miles away from downtown Edmonton. I was not so pleased with it but we had no choice. Dami kasing visitors during that week because of Capital X and other activities that was going on in the area.

Saturday, July 14, 2007 - Officially In Edmonton, Alberta, CA

I can't still believe it! Right this very moment, we're officially here in Edmonton, Canada. I was so excited to meet the kids and their family. We called them and they're so happy to meet us especially Lilly. After breakfast, we went to their apartment and spent time chatting before going to the mall. Gosh, can't believe how big they were! Parang kailan lang when I used to change their diapers and all that!

It's so hot in here so we went to West Edmonton Mall and spent the rest of the afternoon there. The kids were supposed to go to Water Park but it's too expensive. Did you know that they charge $35 per person? That's just too much. It's good thing my Uncle called and told us not to go there and wait until Sunday. Luckily, he was able to get some cheap tickets ($15 each) from his co-worker.

Sunday, July 15, 2007 - Water Park, West Edmonton Mall

I called my cousins and they weren't home yet. They went to church in the morning so we decided to stay at the hotel. Finally they called us at around 1 in the afternoon. Then we headed to their apartment to pick the kids and went directly to the mall. The Water Park looks fun but I decided just to wait there in the mall because I can't stand the smell of the chlorine. It makes me throw up. They spent almost 5 hours in the water. Too bad I wasn't able to take a lot of photos in there.

Monday, July 16, 2007 - Leduc Petroleum Discovery Centre

Since dear hubby is very interested in oil stocks, we decided to go to Leduc Petroleum Discovery Centre. They charged $10 per person but it was worth it. Leduc was discovered on February 13, 1947. Leduc petroleum discovery celebrated its 60th year anniversary last February 13. For more information about Leduc, feel free to visit their website at http://www.leduc.ca

While still on the tour, Aunt Necie called and told us na someone offered us a place to stay. The owner went to the Philippines with the whole family. So ang natira lang doon ay yung cousins nila. But they had a 5 bedroom house. We're just lucky kasi ang babait nila. That means, we don't have to spend hundreds of dollars for this trip for hotel bills. Of course, this doesn't include our meals, and other expenses. At first, my dear hubby was kind of hesitant to accept the offer since we have a super active baby. He doesn't want to chase her around the house. Although nasa basement yung kwarto but still, it's a hassle. But if we stay there, talagang makaka-save kami ng malaki. I'm so glad na convinced namin si hubby so we accepted the offer!

Tuesday, July 17, 2007 - Keheewin School, Edmonton, Alberta

The kids went to Keheewin School because it's very close to their apartment. My cousin's apartment is just a few walk to Keheewin School so we decided to go there since dear daughter loves the park. We stayed there for almost 4 hours. The kids really had a blast!

By 6 in the evening, we went to Ellerslie for dinner. A fellow Batuananons invited us for dinner sa bahay nila. Grabe ang daming taga Batuan doon. Ang saya saya hehe.

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - Claire's

There's nothing much going on today so we decided to take the kids to Claire's and let the kids pick something they like or want. They were so happy since they don't go out that much.

Then, by 6:30 we went to Ellerslie again for another dinner invitation. Sarap talaga ng madaming kakilala...lol.

Thursday, July 19, 2007 - Parade, Downtown Edmonton

Some of our friends invited us to go to the parade in Downtown Edmonton. The kids spent the night at the house so that we don't have to pick them up in the morning sa apartment nila. We agreed to leave the house by no later than 8 in the morning to beat the traffic and of course, to get some pwesto doon sa parade. But it never turned out that way. The kids wants to eat breakfast first so we left the house by 9:30. Then, we have to catch the bus from Twin Brooks, then another one to Northgate and so on. It was my first time to ride a bus. Kung di pa ako pumunta ng Canada, never pa sana ako maka-ride sa bus. It was funny because dear hubby kept teasing me about it. I never had a chance to ride a bus here in the US...poor me lol. The ride was okay, but dear daughter was kind of scared nung una.

Friday, July 20, 2007 - Relaxation Day

We're supposed to go to the park so that the kids can have fun but we changed our minds. We're kind of scared because we've seen the weather forecast in the morning that there's a possibility of thunderstorms and "tornados". Well, thunderstorms wasn't that scary to me but "tornados?....oh no thanks lol. So, we decided to stay home and watch Tagalog sineseryes and movies on the internet. They have ABS Now. It's pretty cool.

Since the weather is better, we decided to bring the kids to the nearest store so that they can buy stuff for themselves. First, we went to Dollarama. It's like a Dollar Store or a Dollar Tree. I also bought a nail polish there and something for Lilly. Then after that, we headed to McDonalds get some snacks.

Saturday, July 21, 2007 - Boholano Fiesta

Dear hubby decided not to go to the ministry today. He brought Lilly to the house so that she can take her nap. Alam nyo naman ang bata pag di sila nakapag-nap they'll become cranky. So we don't want that to happen since we are going to attend a party in the evening.

As always, Boholanos are everywhere. I had a lot of friends who live in Edmonton, Alberta. I mean, they're from the same town like me. Since fiesta sa Balilihan, Bohol today, they also decided to have a little celebration honoring their patron saint. Gosh, they have so many foods. Yung iba di na nga nagalaw dahil sobrang busog na ang mga tao. We've met some Bol-anons from other towns as well. It was too bad we arrived late. I wasn't able to take pictures either. But the kids managed to take some photos during the volleyball game. I'll post some photos later.

Sunday, July 22, 2007 - No Plans

We don't have any plans today. We decided to stay home and relax. Dear hubby just got an email from his boss if he could come back to work on July 26th. Bummer! I was not happy about it but wala akong magawa since kailangan din nya magtrabaho para may makain kami. The kids weren't happy either. They kept asking me if we can extend our vacation for another week. My goodness! Kung pwede pa lang. Naku if we'll win the lottery, then we don't have to worry about not going to work everyday lol.

The kids spent the night at the house to bid their goodbyes. Poor little Chester. She kept begging if we could spend another days with them. But I had no other choice than to say "no". I never expect na ganito pala mangyari. The kids and I went to bed very late. We talked a lot of things, the time we spent back in the Philippines, etc.

Monday, July 23, 2007 - Leaving Edmonton, Alberta

As usual, dear hubby woke up at 4 in the morning and start packing our things while we're still asleep. He woke me up at 6:30 and prepared some breakfast. As expected, the kids weren't so happy. But we had no choice than to say our "goodbyes". Anyway, this won't be the last time though. They are also planning to visit Vancouver, BC in the next few weeks which is about 2 1/2 hours drive from our place.

By 9 o'clock, we stopped by at my cousin's apartment and say our goodbyes. They're so nice and hospitable. Then after that, we headed to Carway, Montana, the nearest "border". HUHUHU...Did you know how heartbroken I was when we left Edmonton???? Gosh, kung malapit lang sana sila naku every week gyud ko mo visit nila...
